Your expert A question about this product?

The Thomas cognac tassel loafer puts the warmest color in the range on the sharpest last in it. Leather tassels, glowing reddish-tan calfskin, a long lean line with a chisel toe: light and depth, tassels and a sharp line. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, the cognac built up by hand and burnished deeper at the toe and heel so it moves between amber and copper. What sets this version apart is the 722 last: the sleekest line in the range, more contemporary than the rounder 675. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time. A full leather sole keeps it dressy.

The same glowing cognac, a leaner silhouette — for navy and gray, for the suit that needs warmth at the floor and an edge beneath it.

The warm detail, the sharp line, together.

Size & Fit

This model fits true to UK/US standard sizing, so simply order what you usually wear in dress shoes or the size that appears most in your shoe closet.

To compare your foot measurements, open the Size Guide in the size selector above.

If the fit isn’t right the first time around, exchange for a different size is free and easy!

Our standard D width fits most feet. If your feet feel a little wide, go half a size up in D. If you know they are genuinely wide, order your usual size in EE: it adds 9 mm (0.35") of girth for extra room and comfort. EE pairs also come with a free set of insoles, so you can fine-tune the fit with complete confidence.

When in doubt, order the same size you usually wear in dress shoes.

The 722 Last

Toe shape: Chisel · Fit: Snug · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads long, stretched, and sharp. The chisel toe draws an almost horizontal line at the front of the shoe — it doesn't end in a point or a curve, but in a clean, straight edge that gives a very modern and deliberate silhouette. From the instep to the floor, the last communicates intent: this is a shoe that wants to be noticed.

The lateral profile is low and taut. There is no volume in the toe box — the last tapers gradually toward the front without inflating the cap. The result is a shoe that looks even slimmer than it measures, with that visual elongation that makes the foot appear longer and more elegant.

Ideal if you're looking for presence without excess: a shoe that enters the room before you do.

Thomas Cognac 722

Tassel Loafer

Tassels started as a decorative knot on the lacing of a shoe and ended up as the detail that separates a loafer from every other loafer.

A tassel loafer keeps the slip-on ease and adds a pair of leather tassels across the vamp, which is enough to push it up the formality scale — traditionally the lawyer's shoe, and still the one that reads dressiest without laces.

It works under a suit, under flannel, under anything with a clean break at the ankle.

Ours is the Thomas, Goodyear welted in European calfskin and hand-burnished on every non-black pair, so the color has depth rather than a flat coat.

Leather Sole

A leather sole is the dressiest way to finish a shoe, and the reason a good pair reads as a good pair from across the room. It is thin where a rubber sole is thick, so the shoe keeps the line the last gave it instead of adding bulk under the foot.

Leather breathes, takes the shape of the way you walk within a few wears, and can be replaced when it finally goes — this is a sole built to be renewed, not discarded.

It is quieter on a hard floor than anything else we make, and it is the sole to choose when the occasion is formal and the day is dry.
