The Smith is a brown penny loafer in Italian Museum calfskin from Ilcea — the slip-on at its most refined. The leather is the whole story: the famous Museum Calf, marbled at the Ilcea tannery, where dyes are layered onto the wet hide so the brown shifts between chestnut and walnut across the vamp and no two pieces come out the same — a depth flat calf can't imitate. In a photograph it reads rich; in person, it moves. A clean leather strap, no laces, on the elegant 750 last. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted one pair at a time. It comes with a subtle rubber sole for added durability while keeping the elegance intact.
Put it under gray or navy and the Museum brown does what ordinary brown can't — it gives the most-worn color in the wardrobe a depth worth a second look. The everyday loafer, in a leather most men never get to own.
The shape is familiar. The leather is the reason to choose it.
