The Chris is a cognac single monk strap — the dress shoe that says the most with the least, in the color that catches the light. One buckle, no laces, a clean closed throat, in a reddish tan that glows. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, the cognac built up by hand: burnished deeper at the toe and heel so it shifts between amber and copper as the light moves. That hand-laid depth is what makes a cognac shoe worth owning. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted one pair at a time. A full leather sole keeps it dressy.

Put it under a navy suit and the warm color lifts the whole outfit; put it under tan chinos or pale linen and it does the same in a warmer register. One strap, warm color, no fuss.

The Oxford is expected. The Chris, in cognac, is the warmer, simpler answer.
