The Peter is a brown suede penny loafer on a commando sole — the slip-on that handles real ground. A clean leather strap across the vamp, no laces, in a soft European suede: a warm mid-brown with a matte nap that absorbs light and reads relaxed in a way smooth calf can't. Beneath it sits a lightweight commando sole — real grip and traction with a fraction of the weight of a conventional commando, so the penny loafer keeps its slim look and still takes wet pavement in stride. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa.

Put it under chinos, under denim, under a linen suit on a cool day. The suede penny loafer for the man who wants the easy material, the slot-strap detail, and a sole that doesn't mind the weather.

Relaxed on top, planted below — the penny loafer made for the long, unpredictable day.

The 435 Last

Toe shape: Oval · Fit: Very roomy · Sizing: True to size

The loafer reads relaxed, generous, and unhurried. The 435 makes no claim to being a dress shoe — and that is a virtue. The toe is oval and full, almost entirely round, with no taper that suggests formality. The body of the last is wide and voluminous, with a medium-low instep and good width across the sides.

This is the last for the man who wants a loafer that goes on without thinking, that pairs with chinos, jeans, or even shorts, and that simply stays comfortable all day. Nothing pinches, nothing pulls — the foot lives inside with real ease.

Penny Loafer

A penny loafer is the slip-on that dresses up.

A leather strap crosses the vamp with a small cut-out slot in the middle — the slot that once held a coin and gave the shoe its name — and everything else is kept slim and low. No laces, no hardware, no fuss.

Worn with tailored trousers it is nearly as dressy as a derby; worn with chinos in July it is the most comfortable correct shoe there is.

Ours are Goodyear welted, which is unusual in a loafer and the reason the shape holds instead of collapsing after a season of being pulled on and kicked off.

Commando Sole

A commando sole is a chunky, deep-lugged rubber sole, and it changes the character of the shoe on purpose. The lugs bite into snow, mud and wet leaves the way no dress sole can, and the extra thickness adds close to an inch of height and a deliberate, planted stance.

It is the most rugged finish we offer and the one that survives a real winter without being babied.

Pair it with the heavier leathers and suedes and it reads confident rather than formal — a shoe for cold mornings, gravel drives and the months when the weather decides what you wear.
