Your expert A question about this product?

Near-black brown behaves like black, and on a dark brown split toe boot the hand-sewn seam gives it what black doesn't have. Closed lacing, a raised split toe seam running up the center of the vamp, in Alcazar leather: a near-black brown calfskin with a distinctive woven-look grain that gives the color depth beside the central seam. Underneath, the Daniel sits on the 357 last, a square chisel-toe with extra room at the ball of the foot. Beneath it sits a Vibram Eton sole: a refined lugged rubber with discreet grip and a low, clean profile. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time.

Put it under charcoal, navy, or denim and the split toe seam and the textured leather do the work. A boot with character at the vamp and sure footing below.

Quiet, deep, and a line worth following.

The 357 Last

Toe shape: Square chisel · Fit: Medium · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads architectural and self-assured. The square chisel toe is the most pronounced in the catalog — flat and defined, with a horizontal cut that projects deliberate intent. It isn't aggressive, but it doesn't apologize either: this is the shoe of a man who made a conscious decision not to be conventional.

Comfort at the ball of the foot is notably superior to older lasts — there is real space where the foot needs it most. Shares the exact same body, volume, and fit as the 358, but with more drama at the toe.

Split Toe Boot

A split toe boot carries a raised seam straight down the center of the toe, and on the Daniel that seam is sewn by hand — one of the few places left in a modern shoe where a hand does the job better than a machine.

It gives the front of the boot a ridge that catches light and a look that is rugged and refined at the same time.

Wear it with flannel, tweed, heavy denim, anything with weight to it.

Built on the 357 last for a square chisel toe and Goodyear welted in European calfskin, it is a boot that shows its making.

Vibram Sole

A Vibram sole is the lugged, studded rubber Vibram has been making for mountain boots since the 1930s, fitted here to shoes that have to work outdoors without looking like hiking gear.

It is the grippiest sole we fit: the tread is deep, the compound stays flexible in the cold, and it holds on wet rock and loose ground where a smooth sole would slide.

It sits most often under suede, where the pairing is honest about what the shoe is for. Choose it when the walk is unpaved and the weather is not a detail you get to plan around.
