Your expert A question about this product?

A cognac cap toe Oxford is brown with the light let in. Clean closed lacing, one seam across the toe, a warm reddish tan that lifts a navy or gray suit and comes into its own under sun. The Ashford upper is top-grade European calfskin, and the cognac is built by hand: an artisan burnishes the tone deeper at the toe and heel so it glows and shifts between amber and copper rather than lying flat. That hand-laid depth is what makes a cognac shoe worth owning. Built on the 675 last — almond toe, roomier fit — for comfort through long days. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time. A full leather sole finishes it at its dressiest.

Put it under a navy suit, tan chinos, or pale linen and let the light find it. Formal, but never heavy — the warm shoe for lighter suits, warmer months, and the days when a shoe should catch the eye as well as the dress code.

Cognac is the brown that catches the light. And the eye.

Size & Fit

This model fits true to UK/US standard sizing, so simply order what you usually wear in dress shoes or the size that appears most in your shoe closet.

To compare your foot measurements, open the Size Guide in the size selector above.

If the fit isn’t right the first time around, exchange for a different size is free and easy!

Our standard D width fits most feet. If your feet feel a little wide, go half a size up in D. If you know they are genuinely wide, order your usual size in EE: it adds 9 mm (0.35") of girth for extra room and comfort. EE pairs also come with a free set of insoles, so you can fine-tune the fit with complete confidence.

When in doubt, order the same size you usually wear in dress shoes.

The 675 Last

Toe shape: Almond · Fit: Roomy · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads balanced, clean, and classically European. The almond toe is generous — there is real volume in the toe box, well-formed and slightly domed — but it resolves into an elegant roundness that never becomes aggressive or pointed.

Compared to the 722, the 675 has more body: the foot breathes, the toes settle with natural ease. Compared to a round-toe last, it still has definition — the toe has its own character. The result is a shoe that looks serious without effort, with harmonious proportions that work with a suit, chinos, or even dark denim.

The English last in its most balanced form: presence without drama, elegance without posturing.

Ashford Cognac 675

Cap Toe Oxford

A cap toe Oxford is the shoe every other dress shoe gets measured against.

Closed lacing keeps the line clean — the lace flaps are stitched under the vamp, so the shoe reads as one piece from toe to heel. A single seam across the toe does the rest: enough structure to look deliberate, never enough to distract.

Wear it to the wedding, to the boardroom, to the dinner that matters, and it is correct in all three.

Ours are built in top-grade European calfskin over a Goodyear welt, which is why the silhouette holds its shape years in instead of settling into a soft, tired shoe.

Leather Sole

A leather sole is the dressiest way to finish a shoe, and the reason a good pair reads as a good pair from across the room. It is thin where a rubber sole is thick, so the shoe keeps the line the last gave it instead of adding bulk under the foot.

Leather breathes, takes the shape of the way you walk within a few wears, and can be replaced when it finally goes — this is a sole built to be renewed, not discarded.

It is quieter on a hard floor than anything else we make, and it is the sole to choose when the occasion is formal and the day is dry.
