Pick your size to see when your pair will arrive

A black cap toe Oxford draws the most attention without ever asking for it. The upper is full-grain calfskin from the Weinheimer tannery, chosen for a close, even grain that holds a deep shine and ages without breaking down. Closed lacing keeps the line clean; the cap toe seam keeps it correct. The Richard is built on the City last, a contemporary round toe with a genuinely generous fit — so the shoe stays elegant while giving you room for the long days it was made for. Goodyear welted by our artisans, one pair at a time, in a workshop in Almansa, which is what lets the leather sole be renewed and the pair followed for years rather than seasons. A full leather sole finishes it at its dressiest.

This is the shoe for the interview, the close, the room where the details are read before the handshake — and it does that quietly. The man who understands construction will notice the Richard. The man who doesn't will simply notice that you carry yourself differently in it.

Some shoes get dressed up to. The Richard is the one the rest of the wardrobe answers to.

Cap Toe Oxford

A cap toe Oxford is the shoe every other dress shoe gets measured against. Closed lacing keeps the line clean — the lace flaps are stitched under the vamp, so the shoe reads as one piece from toe to heel. A single seam across the toe does the rest: enough structure to look deliberate, never enough to distract. Wear it to the wedding, to the boardroom, to the dinner that matters, and it is correct in all three. Ours are built in top-grade European calfskin over a Goodyear welt, which is why the silhouette holds its shape years in instead of settling into a soft, tired shoe.

The City Last

Toe shape: Round · Fit: Very roomy · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads classic, open, and unpretentious. The round toe makes no attempt to surprise — it states what it is with quiet confidence. No edges, no pronounced almond: the curve is continuous and generous, with a shape that feels familiar and comfortable from the first glance.

The fit is particularly generous — among the widest in the catalog — making it ideal for wide feet or for anyone who wants unrestricted comfort. The elegance comes from the whole, not the toe: an impeccable dress shoe that lets the leather and construction do the talking.

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

A closed channel leather sole is finished so that the stitching disappears. A thin layer of the sole is lifted, the stitch that holds the outsole is laid into the groove beneath it, and the leather is closed back over the top.

What is left is an uninterrupted surface from toe to heel — no stitch line, nothing on the bottom of the shoe but leather. It is work done on the part of a shoe almost nobody looks at, which is rather the point of it.

Underfoot it behaves like any leather sole: thin enough to keep the line the last gave the shoe, quiet on a hard floor, and replaceable when it finally goes.
