The Peter is a navy loafer in Blue Alaska calfskin — a limited-edition slip-on in one of the rarest calfskins a man can own. Blue Alaska comes from the D'Annonay tannery in France, the same house Hermès draws on: a deep, inky navy with a clarity and depth of color that only a tannery at this level produces. No laces, a clean low-cut vamp, the leather burnished by hand so the navy shifts between midnight and ink as the light moves. Beneath it sits a lightweight rubber sole — comfort and grip on a slim dress profile. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa.

Put it under gray flannel, pale linen, or denim and let the leather do the work — this is a color and a calf most men will never see in person, let alone own. A limited edition in a Hermès-grade leather, on a slip-on built to wear every day.

Few men know this leather. Fewer still own it. That's rather the point.

Penny Loafer

A penny loafer is the slip-on that dresses up. A leather strap crosses the vamp with a small cut-out slot in the middle — the slot that once held a coin and gave the shoe its name — and everything else is kept slim and low. No laces, no hardware, no fuss. Worn with tailored trousers it is nearly as dressy as a derby; worn with chinos in July it is the most comfortable correct shoe there is. Ours are Goodyear welted, which is unusual in a loafer and the reason the shape holds instead of collapsing after a season of being pulled on and kicked off.

Rubber Sole

A rubber sole is the practical, all-weather finish: solid grip, real cushioning underfoot and a wearing surface that shrugs off the pavement.

It is thicker than leather and quieter than a lugged sole, which puts it in the useful middle — enough traction for a wet street, enough restraint to wear with tailoring.

It asks for nothing: no dry-day planning, no careful route around the puddle. Choose it for the pair that gets worn without thinking about it, the one that goes on in the morning whatever the forecast says and comes back looking the same.
