Guillaume Brown Calf Balmoral Boot - 722

Look closely at a brown Balmoral boot and the work stops being abstract. Turn the Guillaume over and the waist is beveled, narrowed under the arch so the sole follows the foot instead of sitting flat beneath it — a bespoke detail, on a boot you can buy off a shelf. Above it, Goodyear welted by our artisans, one pair at a time, in a workshop in Almansa, on a full leather sole. The brown is hand-burnished over top-grade European calfskin, layered so it deepens at the toe and heel and lifts across the vamp: walnut to chestnut, moving with the light. Closed Balmoral lacing carries one continuous seam around the ankle, the cap toe brogued along its own, the 722 last long and lean with a slight chisel toe.

Brown does the most work in a wardrobe and asks the least in return — gray flannel, navy, charcoal, dark denim, all of it. On a Balmoral boot it manages that without ever dropping below formal.
