Cognac catches the light and keeps it, which is exactly what a cognac double monk strap should be doing with it. Two buckles, no laces, a clean closed throat, in a reddish tan that catches the light and keeps it. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, the cognac built up by hand: burnished deeper at the toe and heel so it glows between amber and copper as the light shifts. Underneath, the Francis sits on the 675 last — an almond toe with a slightly deeper fit, a rounder and more classic read than the sharp 722, and the comfortable choice for long days on the foot. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time. A full leather sole keeps it dressy.
Put it under a navy suit and it lifts everything; put it under pale linen or tan chinos and it does the same in a warmer register. The double monk already turns heads — in cognac, it does it with the light on its side.
Black is correct. Cognac is the one that catches the light, on the last that's easiest to wear.

The shoe reads balanced, clean, and classically European. The almond toe is generous — there is real volume in the toe box, well-formed and slightly domed — but it resolves into an elegant roundness that never becomes aggressive or pointed.
Compared to the 722, the 675 has more body: the foot breathes, the toes settle with natural ease. Compared to a round-toe last, it still has definition — the toe has its own character. The result is a shoe that looks serious without effort, with harmonious proportions that work with a suit, chinos, or even dark denim.

A double monk strap closes with a pair of straps drawn across the vamp, which makes it the most confident shoe in a formal wardrobe — the one that gets noticed without doing anything loud. Monastic in origin, it kept the closed, protective front of a dress shoe and dropped the lacing entirely.
Under a suit it sharpens the whole outfit; with flannel or dark denim it does the work of three other shoes.

A leather sole is the dressiest way to finish a shoe, and the reason a good pair reads as a good pair from across the room. It is thin where a rubber sole is thick, so the shoe keeps the line the last gave it instead of adding bulk under the foot.
Leather breathes, takes the shape of the way you walk within a few wears, and can be replaced when it finally goes — this is a sole built to be renewed, not discarded.
