The Francis is a brown double monk strap in Italian Museum calfskin from Ilcea — two buckles, no laces, and a leather that carries the whole shoe. Hand-finished with an antiqued, mottled depth that flat calf can't imitate, the brown shifts between chestnut and walnut across the upper, layered onto the wet hide at the tannery, no two pieces the same. It's built on the Louvre last, a soft-square toe that tapers in a way no other last does. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted by hand. A full leather sole keeps it dressy.
Put it under gray or navy and the Museum brown does what flat brown can't: in a photograph it reads rich, in person it moves. A double monk in a leather most men never get to own.
The straps make it deliberate. The Ilcea leather makes it rare.
