Your expert A question about this product?

A brown cap toe Oxford goes everywhere, and on the 722 last it arrives with intent — the everyday color drawn to the sleekest line in the range, clean closed lacing, one seam across the toe, a versatile mid-brown given a modern, deliberate shape. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, the brown built up by hand and burnished deeper at the toe and heel for tonal depth. Long, clean, a slight chisel toe: that's the Ashford on the 722. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time. A full leather sole holds it at its dressiest.

Put it under gray or navy tailoring and it reads considered rather than expected — the same useful brown, a leaner read, for the man who wants his most-worn shoe to be his sharpest.

Brown covers the most ground. On the 722, it covers it with an edge.

Size & Fit

This model fits true to UK/US standard sizing, so simply order what you usually wear in dress shoes or the size that appears most in your shoe closet.

To compare your foot measurements, open the Size Guide in the size selector above.

If the fit isn’t right the first time around, exchange for a different size is free and easy!

Our standard D width fits most feet. If your feet feel a little wide, go half a size up in D. If you know they are genuinely wide, order your usual size in EE: it adds 9 mm (0.35") of girth for extra room and comfort. EE pairs also come with a free set of insoles, so you can fine-tune the fit with complete confidence.

When in doubt, order the same size you usually wear in dress shoes.

The 722 Last

Toe shape: Chisel · Fit: Snug · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads long, stretched, and sharp. The chisel toe draws an almost horizontal line at the front of the shoe — it doesn't end in a point or a curve, but in a clean, straight edge that gives a very modern and deliberate silhouette. From the instep to the floor, the last communicates intent: this is a shoe that wants to be noticed.

The lateral profile is low and taut. There is no volume in the toe box — the last tapers gradually toward the front without inflating the cap. The result is a shoe that looks even slimmer than it measures, with that visual elongation that makes the foot appear longer and more elegant.

Ideal if you're looking for presence without excess: a shoe that enters the room before you do.

Ashford Brown 722

Cap Toe Oxford

A cap toe Oxford is the shoe every other dress shoe gets measured against.

Closed lacing keeps the line clean — the lace flaps are stitched under the vamp, so the shoe reads as one piece from toe to heel. A single seam across the toe does the rest: enough structure to look deliberate, never enough to distract.

Wear it to the wedding, to the boardroom, to the dinner that matters, and it is correct in all three.

Ours are built in top-grade European calfskin over a Goodyear welt, which is why the silhouette holds its shape years in instead of settling into a soft, tired shoe.

Leather Sole

A leather sole is the dressiest way to finish a shoe, and the reason a good pair reads as a good pair from across the room. It is thin where a rubber sole is thick, so the shoe keeps the line the last gave it instead of adding bulk under the foot.

Leather breathes, takes the shape of the way you walk within a few wears, and can be replaced when it finally goes — this is a sole built to be renewed, not discarded.

It is quieter on a hard floor than anything else we make, and it is the sole to choose when the occasion is formal and the day is dry.
