One piece of leather, no break in the line from heel to toe: a black wholecut Oxford in full-grain calfskin from the Weinheimer tannery. The Weinheimer tannery in Germany produces some of the finest calfskin in Europe — a full-grain black with a depth and consistency that shows on a seamless upper, where there is nowhere for the leather to hide. Here the Miquel is built on the Louvre last: a soft-square toe that tapers in a way no other last in the range does, with a generous fit that holds the line all day. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted, one pair at a time. A full leather sole holds it at its dressiest.

The most minimal formal shoe, built from the leather the construction deserves. For the boardroom, for the black-tie table, for the man who knows that the most considered shoe is often the quietest one.

One cut. One tannery. The Louvre last. Nothing else required.

Wholecut Oxford

Cut from a single piece of leather, a wholecut Oxford is the hardest dress shoe to make and the easiest to wear. Nothing breaks the upper — no cap, no panels, virtually no seams — just one continuous surface from toe to heel. That also means the hide has to be flawless: one weak spot anywhere and the whole pattern is scrapped. The discipline is the appeal. Worn with tailoring it is the sleekest shoe in the room and the least forgiving, because a wholecut shows every scuff. Ours are Goodyear welted, which is what keeps that single unbroken line from going slack.

The Louvre Last

Toe shape: Soft square · Fit: Very roomy · Sizing: True to size

The shoe reads contemporary and distinctive. The soft square toe echoes the City's generous fit, but instead of resolving in a full curve, the toe flattens slightly — a touch of geometry that gives it a character of its own without tipping into formal stiffness or casualness.

The effect is subtle: not the assertive chisel of the 357, but a suggestion of squareness that modernizes the silhouette. Works particularly well with more structured clothing, or for the man who wants to step just slightly off the classic path without leaving it.

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

A closed channel leather sole is finished so that the stitching disappears. A thin layer of the sole is lifted, the stitch that holds the outsole is laid into the groove beneath it, and the leather is closed back over the top.

What is left is an uninterrupted surface from toe to heel — no stitch line, nothing on the bottom of the shoe but leather. It is work done on the part of a shoe almost nobody looks at, which is rather the point of it.

Underfoot it behaves like any leather sole: thin enough to keep the line the last gave the shoe, quiet on a hard floor, and replaceable when it finally goes.
