The Smith is a cognac penny loafer — the warmest color, on the sharpest last. A leather strap, a clean slot, in a warm reddish tan that glows and shifts in the light; and on the 722 last it runs long and lean with a slight chisel toe. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, the cognac built up by hand and burnished deeper at the toe and heel so it moves between amber and copper. What sets this version apart is the 722 last: the sleekest line in the range, sharper than the rounder 675. Made by our artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Goodyear welted one pair at a time. A full leather sole keeps it dressy.
