The Guillaume is a black Balmoral brogue boot — a formal, closed-laced boot with brogued detailing that most men never think to own, which is precisely the point. The upper is full-grain calfskin from the Weinheimer tannery, chosen for a close, even grain that holds a deep shine and ages without breaking down; the brogued perforations and the Balmoral's clean seam between vamp and shaft read as quiet, deliberate ornament rather than decoration. It's built on the Ritz last, a soft-square toe shaped for boots too elegant for the usual round-toe form — dressy, never chunky. Beneath it sits our fiddleback beveled-waist leather sole, with a hand-beveled waist: the detail of a true bespoke shoe, the kind you feel before you can name it. Goodyear welted by hand in a workshop in Almansa, so it lasts the way a Weinheimer boot should.
This is a formal boot with the discipline of an Oxford and the presence of something far less common. With gray flannel it lifts everything above it; with dark denim it does the same. The man who understands construction will read the Weinheimer calf and the beveled waist; the man who doesn't will simply see a boot most men don't have.
The Oxford boot is expected. The Guillaume, in black, is the one chosen.
