Dear Cobbler Union member,
We hope this message finds you well. As always, thank you for being part of the Cobbler Union family and for your continued support over the years.
As you may have seen, the U.S. government has just announced a new 15% tariff on imports from Europe, including our footwear. In addition, beginning on August 29th and over the next six months, a flat fee of $80 to $200 will be applied to all imported products under $800—products that previously qualified for duty-free treatment under the de minimis exemption.
These changes, layered on top of ongoing inflation and global supply chain challenges, present real difficulties for brands like ours that depend on fine European craftsmanship. But as always, our mission remains the same: to deliver timeless design and uncompromising quality at fair, accessible prices.
Beginning in September, we’ll be pausing direct shipping from our Spanish warehouses to your door. With the de minimis exemption no longer in place and steep flat fees in effect, continuing that model would force us to raise prices significantly—something we are committed to avoiding.
Instead, we’re reverting to bulk shipping from Spain to our U.S. warehouse, where we’ll fulfill your orders domestically. This approach, we hope, will help us limit price increases, despite the added tariff costs.
The tradeoff? Shipping times may be slightly longer, especially as we are being forced to, once again, adjust our production process to adapt to this new reality. But what won’t change is our commitment to craftsmanship, transparency, and customer care.
We’re treating this as a temporary measure and are actively working on long-term solutions to navigate these damaging regulatory shifts while protecting the Cobbler Union experience you value.
We are deeply grateful for your continued loyalty and trust. As always, if you have questions or feedback, we’re here to help.
Warm regards,
The Cobbler Union Team
