Alexander Johnston established the Elgin mill on the banks of the River Lossie over two centuries ago is now one of Scotland's oldest family businesses founded a legacy of fine craft and exquisite fabric. Dedication, patience, and love for the craft has allowed Johnstons of Elgin to lead the world in cashmere and woolens.
The experience and tradition rooted in its history has been passed down through generations. These products have been lovingly produced by devoted craftspeople doing their utmost to ensure the conservation of these special, increasingly rare, skills.
To this day, woolens and cashmeres are sourced from only the finest raw fibers available and supply to the world's top luxury brands.

Showcasing Johnstons luxurious ripple hand-finish and one of their signature cashmere yarns, which is spun at the Elgin mill. The unique ripple finish is only achieved through the cumulative effect of years of manufacturing craft and knowledge, using natural, hand-worked teasels.
